The first EKC was held in Rotterdam on January 22, 2012 and was hosted by Joris van Nispen of Shofukan Rotterdam.

Five schools were represented in the public embu:
- Hozoin ryu Takada-ha 宝蔵院流高田派
- Muhen Yougan ryu 無辺要眼流
- Sho Sho ryu 諸賞流
- Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto ryu 天真正伝香取神道流
- Shinkage ryu 新陰流
