Concept
On January 22, 2012, the 1st European Kobudo Convention took place in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The aim of this initiative is twofold:
Firstly, to encourage the academic study of koryu bujutsu and the exchange of ideas among practitioners of kobudo ryuha in Europe. Apart from a growing network, this takes the form of a closed meeting once yearly, featuring a lecture and discussion.
(In principle, only European kobudoka training in Japan directly under supervision of a soke or shihan of a ryuha, mentioned in this list have been invited to participate. Feel free to contact us if you think you should be there, too.)
Secondly, we would like to offer the interested public a serious and accessible platform to learn more about authorized kobudo and get in touch with the respective study groups in Europe. Therefore, the second part of the annual meeting consists of demonstrations by various ryuha, as well as an informal meeting - both free and open to all.
